The problem
Scams Look More Real Than Ever
Scammers copy real company names, logos, and web addresses. Their messages look official, sound urgent, and show up by email, text, and phone.
One wrong click can hand over your passwords, your bank details, or your savings. Most of the time, all it takes to stop them is a second opinion before you act.

The red flags in this message:
- A rush deadline
- A strange web address
- Asks you to pay
How it works
Three Steps. That's It.
No forms to fill out and nothing to pay. Just send it our way.
-
Send it to us
Forward the email, send us a screenshot of the text, or call and tell us what happened.
-
Hands off while you wait
Don't click links, open attachments, call numbers in the message, reply, or send money. If it says you only have hours to act, that's a common scam trick.

Warning signs found
This shows clear signs of a scam. We'll point out exactly what gave it away, so you can spot it next time, and tell you how to report it.
-
Something seems off
Parts of it concern us, but we can't be sure either way. Treat it as a scam until you've checked it yourself.
-
No obvious warning signs
We didn't spot the usual tricks. That's good news, but it isn't a guarantee, so please still check it yourself before you act.

Subject Re: Is this a scam?
Hi Linda,
Thanks for checking with us first. This message shows clear signs of a scam:
- It came from a Gmail address, not the company it claims to be.
- It says your account will close in 24 hours unless you act.
- The link goes to a website that isn't the company's real site.
Please don't click anything in it. If you want to double-check your account, call the number on the back of your card.
The Old Glory team
Our Promise To You
Scammers sometimes pretend to be companies people trust, and that could include us. So here is what Old Glory will never do:
- We will never call you first. You reach out to us, not the other way around.
- We will never ask for your passwords, PINs, or the codes texted to your phone.
- We will never ask to connect to or "remote into" your computer.
- We will never ask you to pay with gift cards, wire transfers, or cryptocurrency.
Know the signs
Scams We See Most Often
Most scams follow a handful of familiar patterns. If a message sounds like one of these, send it our way.
The surprise bill
Your subscription renewed for $399.99. Call now to cancel.
You never signed up, and that's the point. They want you to call.
The stuck package
Your package is on hold. Pay a $1.99 fee to release it.
A text says a delivery is on hold and asks you to click a link to pay a small fee or update your address.
The locked account
Unusual activity detected. Log in within 24 hours to avoid suspension.
Your "bank," Amazon, or Apple says there's a problem and you must log in right away through their link.
The government threat
This is the IRS. You owe back taxes. Pay today to avoid arrest.
Someone claiming to be the IRS, Social Security, or the police says you owe money or face arrest.
The computer warning
Virus detected. Do not turn off your computer. Call technical support now.
A pop-up or caller says your computer has a virus and gives you a number to call for help.
The family emergency
Grandma, it's me. I'm in trouble and need money. Please don't tell Mom.
A call or message from a "grandchild" or "lawyer" who needs money fast and asks you to keep it quiet.
The prize
Congratulations! You've won $5,000. Pay the $49 processing fee to claim it.
You've won something, but you have to pay a fee or share your bank details to claim it.
The common thread: urgency, fear, and a request for money or information. When you see all three together, stop and ask us.
Already Clicked Or Paid? Act Fast.
It happens to smart, careful people every day. Don't be embarrassed. Moving quickly is what matters most.
-
If you paid or shared bank or card details
Call your bank or card company right away, using the number on the back of your card. Ask them to stop the payment and watch your account.
-
If you paid with a gift card
Call the company that issued the card (the number is on the back) and tell them it was used in a scam. Keep the card and receipt.
-
If you shared a password
Change it now, starting with your email and bank. Change it anywhere else you used the same password.
-
If you let someone onto your computer
Turn off its internet connection and have a trusted local repair shop check it.
-
Report it
Report it to the Federal Trade Commission at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. If you think someone has your personal information, visit IdentityTheft.gov.
Then let us know. We're happy to help you figure out your next step.

No. We'll tell you what we see, but only the real company can confirm a message is genuine. Every answer includes how to check it yourself, safely.
What happens to the messages I send you?
We look at what you send only to answer your question. We delete forwarded messages after we've reviewed them, and we never sell or share them.
